Cancellation Policy

Cancellation policies such as ours are common in private facilities across all fields of healthcare and specialist therapy.

Therapy appointments are conducted on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This is negotiated with the treating clinician/ manager and client’s family. All appointments made at Learning Links Speech Pathology are exclusive reservations and time is specifically set aside for you. We aim to keep costs affordable for our patients and one way that we do this is via efficient use of equipment and professional staff. Missed appointments represent a cost to both the practice, and to other patients who could have been seen in the time set aside for you.

To help you keep your appointment, our clinicians send 48 hour reminders via SMS, which we ask that you reply to by SMS.  Please remember that if for some reason you do not receive your reminder, your appointment remains your responsibility to attend or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance.

Please advise us as soon as possible if you cannot attend an appointment. This allows us to offer your appointment to someone else. Since we turn away other patients to hold your appointment, any missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will result in a cancellation charge of the full consultation fee. However if you advise us 24 hours or more prior to the appointment, there is no fee and we will attempt to reschedule your appointment to a time that suits. Please be assured that we continue to offer a service for cancellations in these circumstances, such as a parent/carer phone consult or resource development. You can also choose to transfer your child’s appointment to telehealth if they are well enough to participate.

If you do need to change your appointment due to an unanticipated event:

• You need to contact your clinician during business hours.
• We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice or this will be considered a missed appointment.  We ask this so that we may offer your appointment time to another patient if you are unable to attend.

Regular attendance is expected for appointments. In the event of multiple missed and/ or cancelled appointments we are unable to hold the regular / preferred appointment times for your child and we reserve the right to offer this time slot to another client on the waiting list. 

If you need to cancel your appointment within 24 hours due to illness or emergency, we are of course are understanding of this and will reschedule your appointment and waive the cancellation fee.
